Renita L. Seabrook, Ph.D is an associate professor in the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Baltimore, and founder of the Helping Others 2 Win program (HO2W). HO2W is a comprehensive reentry program in which women in transition from prison receive five specifics services: cognitive skills, advocacy, financial literacy, education, and employment. Dr. Seabrook"s research interests include offender reentry and rehabilitation—specifically female offenders, program development and evaluation, and criminological perspectives.
Her recent scholarship has appeared in the Journal of Public Management & Social Policy, Race, Ethnicity, ("The Ugly Side of America: Institutional Oppression and Race") and Law: Sociology of Crime, Law, and Deviance ("The New Jane Crow: Mass Incarceration and the Denied Maternity of Black Mothers"), Maryland’s Criminal Justice System, and an op-ed featured in The Daily Record ("Let's Get Our Citizenship Back"). Dr. Seabrook has presented her research at several national conferences on the issues of women offenders and has appeared as a featured guest on several Baltimore radio programs. She is also a member of several community and professional organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the American Society of Criminology, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
